Bonus Cyber Know-How:

The Danish Approach to Cybersecurity Talent Development

Transforming Perceptions:

Rethinking Cybersecurity Roles

In a landscape often perceived as the domain of technical specialists, Bonus Cyber Know-How challenges the status quo. We believe that cybersecurity encompasses a spectrum of skills, from technical expertise to communication and leadership. With a shortage of tailored education programs for non-technical roles in SMEs, we’re reshaping the narrative with this project.

A 6-Week Journey: Crafting Comprehensive Expertise

Our 6-week intensive course targets academic profiles transitioning careers. Featuring six modules—ranging with different topics as Cybersecurity Basics to NIS-2 Compliance and Risk Management—participants gain a multifaceted understanding of the field.

The goal? We want to equip non-technical specialists with the insights necessary for managerial roles in cybersecurity.

The modules are completed in following order:

  • Basics within Cybersecurity
  • Risk Management
  • NIS-2 Compliance
  • Cyber Awareness Programs
  • Emergency Communication
  • Introduction to SC-900 Certification

Practical Learning in Action: Real-World Application

Each week, participants receive teaching and tackle cases provided from companies like Deloitte, ITM8 and Microsoft. Through group assignments and feedback sessions, they build their problem-solving skills and explore diverse facets of cybersecurity.  This hands-on approach ensures theoretical knowledge translates seamlessly into practical solutions.

Bridging Theory and Practice: The Internship Experience

To solidify learning, participants will end the course on a 2–4-week internship in small enterprises. Here, they will apply their newfound skills in authentic settings, preparing for the challenges of the cybersecurity landscape they will meet in their first position. The internship is a vital step in their journey from putting theory into practice.

Nurturing Career Growth: Inspiring Confidence and Direction

Bonus Cyber Know-How empowers participants to explore their niche within cybersecurity. By demystifying complex concepts and offering exposure to diverse career paths as risk management, cyber awareness and NIS2, we hope to give them confidence and motivation for their journey onwards, navigating in the cybersecurity ecosystem and landing the first job in the domain.

Aligning Expectations: Managing Challenges with Transparency

With the ambitious goal of giving them substantial knowledge in a short timeframe, transparency is key. While we can’t transform novices into experts overnight, we ignite a spark of curiosity and drive. Clear communication ensures all stakeholders understand the journey ahead, both talents, SME’s and partners.

Strategic Partnerships: Impact through Collaboration

Our success is very much depending on good strategic alliances with stakeholders as Aarhus Municipality, Jobcenter of Aarhus, and Aarhus University. Together, we identify promising candidates and facilitate internship placements. The industry partnerships with companies as Deloitte and Microsoft are also vital, and enrich learning experiences, bridging the gap between academia and practice.

“Together, we’re shaping the future of cybersecurity—one talent at a time.”

Shaping the Future: Empowering Tomorrow’s Cybersecurity Leaders

Bonus Cyber Know-How is for us in Denmark a new method/form in cybersecurity talent development.
